The AIS women’s and men’s basketball team train 1-3 times a day and 6 times a week. Their training consists of team practice and individuals. Individuals is where players will work on developing their skills and technical aspects on the game. Then on top of all that they do strength and conditioning work at the gym. Team practices are activities or games that last 1-2 hours.

This type of fitness allows a basketball player to play the entire game and be as dominant at the end as they were in the first quarter.

· Carbohydrates
· Proteins
· Fats
· Vitamins
· Minerals
Water: They need to drink water every 15 – 30 min during workout games. They can’t drink too much caffeine because it dehydrates them.
Carbohydrates: There are 2 types of carbs, simple carbs and complex carbs. Simple carbs are things like fruit and sweets. Complex carbs are whole grains, pasta and vegetables.
Protein: This helps build their muscle. They must have protein to perform their best. Protein is needed for any kind of sport not just basketball.
Fats: Even though fat is not exactly good for them, they need it for a well-balanced diet. But too much fat can cause problems and make them unfit unhealthy.
Vitamins: They need a lot of vitamins but only is small proportions. Too much vitamins in their system isn’t good for them. Vitamins help them perform.
Minerals: Minerals help to maintain their bodily tissue and its builds their metabolism.
